Notes on the Note: Two varieties of this note exist. They can be distinguished by the presence or absence of the statement "Patented 30 June 1857" located on the upper border about 25% from the left. Haxby is the only source that distinguishes between the two with separate numbers -- NC-40 G2a with and NC40 G2b without. Haxby placed no value difference on the two varieties. |
